Hi, I’m Deborah Sims, the potter behind Feather and Flint.
A little about my studio: The Potting Shed is in the garden of my home just outside Lyme Regis. I share it with my husband Mark - who also pots from time to time - and our dog Wilma. The stunning Dorset Jurassic coast is on our doorstep and I spend much of my time exploring nearby woods and shorelines.
A little about my pots: Hand-piercing features heavily in my work and each hole is worked over numerous times to achieve the surface and texture I'm looking for. Many are only partially glazed to enhance the tactile contrast between the smoothness of the glaze and the natural clay. I love discovering natural things when out and about on my walks with Wilma and enjoy turning these found treasures over in my hands, exploring their form and texture. I sincerely hope that my pots invite you to enjoy them in a similar way.
I'm currently working on developing some new ideas and hope to be updating things here with some exciting new work soon.
